I needed to have some furniture moved to a new house I just bought.· They moved a dining room set, an entire bedroom, and two couches. John called back quickly after my initial message I left with Big Guys. He was friendly and helpful and we set up the moving service. On the day of the move, Derek and Sean called just before they arrive to let me know they were on their way (they were on time). They were hard working and very personable. They were comfortable with my dog. They wrapped and padded all my furniture, and took my bed apart for moving. They really know how to pack a truck! At the new house they put everything in place and back together. They worked from 2 - 8 pm, and never took a break! I enjoyed the entire time, they were very nice men. It just makes the day more enjoyable when you have nice, interesting people to work with. I will most certainly use this company again, and recommend them to my friends.One thing to note - payment at the end of the day is in cash, so be prepared for that.v

We needed a large, 3 piece sectional couch moved from our main floor living room down a flight of stairs with a 90 degree turn into our finished basement. I purchased an Angie's Deal for one hour of moving services and contacted the owner on the number provided shortly after that same morning. At about 9 a.m. it sounded as if I had woken him up and was surprised when he answered, "Hello?" instead of with the name of the company. He was able to schedule me for the very next day, but instead of taking my information himself, he asked that I fill out a form on his website. This first impression was not positive or professional and I was concerned. The next day our appt was for noon and the movers phoned that they had finished their morning job early and would be out at about 11:00 a.m. instead of noon if that was okay. Randall and Paul arrived right at 11:00. We explained that we wanted to move a large sectional sofa from the living room down into the basement. Two of the three couch pieces would be easy but we feared that the large sleeper sofa part would not fit down the stairs. They got the first two parts down the stairs and into the basement and said that they thought they could get the large piece down too so they tried. We were thrilled that they did some maneuvering and got it to fit! Paul suggested a great placement of the sectional to put it in full view of both the entertainment center and the fireplace. The guys then positioned the new sofa that we had in the living room into a good location upstairs. I would suggest the phone be answered with the company name, the movers wear some kind of company shirt and have identification on their vehicle. It was for these reasons I gave a "c" for professionalism, but the movers themselves were great.

John the owner of Big Guy for Hire and his partner that owns Detroit Boxes Mark were great. They provided good communication from start to finish. My Mom is in her 70’s and has health issues. She wanted to relocate to a small town near St Louis to be with her immediate family and friends. Mark did a great job making my Mom as comfortable as possible as he packed up all her personal belongings. He also took the time to label which boxes would go to storage vs. to her new home. Once Mark was done packing, John’s team came in and loaded up my Mom’s belongings, placed her car on a car hauler, and personally drove over 700 miles to her new location to unload things both at a local storage unit and home. My Mom is not easy to please and she was overall happy with the ending results John and Mark provided. Long story short….their good at what they do and I would recommend to friends and family.

We've used BIG GUY for hire Moving Labor Services. They moved a couch down the basement, our big entertainment center, our refrigerator, and some other things. They did a great job.

The entire team at Big Guy for Hire were amazing. I called on a very short notice needing some last help moving a couple big items for my Saturday move and John fit me in for a very reasonsable price. Two guys, Derek and Shawn, arrived early, and called before hand, and came out and moved all my items in less than 45 minutes. Nothing was damaged and they were very polite! I plan to recommend Big Guy for Hire to family and friends and all my future moves in Michigan or across state lines.Thanks guys!

It went very well. We went with Big Guy for Hire because we had used them one month earlier to load boxes into a POD for a couple of hours. We had Derek and John for the short box job and we're very impressed with their hard work, professionalism, and politeness. So when it came time to actually move all our furniture and personal belongings, we went with Big Guy because it was cheaper than a full–service moving company. With Big Guy, you need to rent the moving truck and, but they will drive it for you. The UHaul rental was about $275 (not included in their price). We were thrilled to have Derek and John back for this big job. The owner, John, was present to work and make sure everything ran smoothly. We pretty much had all our things packed so they just had to load them as well as pack up all the furniture. If they experience traffic delays, they will call you to let you know. They were very professional and quickly loaded the truck and drove to meet us at the new house. At the new house, they unloaded the boxes and put them in the rooms according to how they were labeled. We were very satisfied and would not hesitate to hire them again.

Excellent service!! Moved 2 beds, several couches, numerous tables and chairs. Foosball table, big screen TV, washer/dryer, fridge, etc. The two men that were out at our house were incredible. Derrick and Sean showed up earlier than expected, which was a huge plus because we wanted to move as quickly as possible! They were very polite, courteous, and handled all of our furniture with the utmost care. The move took a little longer than we had anticipated because we really didn't realize how much stuff we had, but  I will definitely use these guys again, and will be asking specifically for Derrick and Sean. Without them, our moving experience would have been nothing short of a headache.

Big Guy for Hire was the best mover I think I have ever used. Movers were punctual, professional, & efficient. They loaded my Uhaul in MI, drove with me to Ohio, and unloaded in Ohio. Even after making 2 trips with them, I paid less than using Two Men & a Truck for a similar move almost 3 years ago.

I worked with Derrick and his partner for a 2 bedroom apartment.  They arrived promptly and didn't waste any time getting to work.  I was a little hesitant to hire movers simply because you have strangers handling your items and you aren't sure if they can be trusted.  Due to the volume of reviews for Derrick and his partner I was put at ease by their professionalism and communication.  It was better than asking family to help move.  These guys can be trusted and do great work.

The Big Guys for Hire moved everything we needed from our old house to our new house. They also swapped out the washer/dryers we had. We had an old washer and dryer in our new house that we swapped with our newer washer and dryer. They disassembled our beds, loaded the truck, and moved everything for us. Big Guys for HIre were wonderful. I called John about two weeks before we needed to move, and he got back with me promptly. We reserved a date/time for them to help us move. One of the things I REALLY liked about this company is that their prices were better than Two Men and a Truck, and their service was outstanding - it really paid off. Their service doesn't provide a truck, but that wasn't a problem, we rented a truck from UHaul, for $40 (compared to Two Men and a Truck's price of $110 for a truck). The big guys not only arrived on time, but came early. They called me first to make sure that was OK (which it was), and they got to work. They literally didn't stop until the job was done. They worked for 6 hours straight. I asked them to take a 5 minute break, because I don't know how anyone can keep lifting and moving heavy objects like that, but they said they were going to power through and get it done. Moved from 2 bedrooms to 4 bedrooms. Hired 3 movers. Arrived my house on time. Mover were very friendly. Got a 24' long u-haul truck. Completely filled. Mover took 4 1/2 hrs (loading and unloading). All my goods were moved professionally. Seems took longer than i expected. No broken items during moving process. All items were placed where i wanted to have. Happy with their service. Job was done professionally.

Hired them to load a moving truck. They were terrific. Showed up early, polite, hard-working, and careful with fragile stuff. They went up and down stairs without breaks. I would definitely use them again.

I had a 600lb wood furnace in my basement that I wanted brought out to the garage. Everything from start to finish was easy (at least for me!) The "BIG GUYS" did the job without a problem. I definitely will be calling them again. Great job guys, Thank you!!

I used Big Guy for hire on 2 occassions. Both times the guys were very puctional and friendly. Big Guy for hire does not provide a truck so I reserved the truck on my own. This was not an issue. The guys did a good job loading and unloading limiting the move to only 1 trip. We arrived at the senior citizen apartment just as lunch was being served to the residents. We needed to move the furniture to the second floor using the same elevator the residents were using to access the dining hall. The manager asked if we could wait until the lunch services were completed. John was willing not to charge me for the standby time. I thought that was very nice of him. Once the unloading was completed, the guys helped me fold all the moving blankets so I would not be charged for it. The move went very well.
