We needed to relocate furniture in order to install hardwood flooring on our first floor. Four rooms of furniture had to be moved into the garage and basement. Some of these were large and heavy pieces. We have used moving companies many times over the years and usually they were the big name trans-state carriers. Even though this was a small move in terms of distance, it was a hard move in terms of what needed to be moved. Darryl and Ali were on time and gave 200% effort. They treated my fine furniture as if it were their own. They stretch wrapped sofas and cabinets and made sure they were secure before moving them. They took apart a very large highboy china cabinet. They moved every piece with no damage to the pieces or my walls and woodwork. They were extremely professional and the most hard working of any of our movers. They moved things that were not originally part of the move such as taking bookcases and books to the basement. They even stayed extra time to ensure all the rooms were emptied. We were very impressed and I told all my friends who need to move things that Big Guy Movers is very, very good. I understand that they will do small or large moves. They were very accommodating to us and most pleasant to work with. They were very easy to contact and schedule. They are also popular so calling ahead as soon as you know you need to move is advised.

Moved my 10,000 square foot business of Children's Clothing and shoes, racks, counters, shelving units etc...... I actually used them twice in 1 week. Wednesday for 3 hours andSaturday for 5 hours. They were so GREAT on Wednesday that I made sure they sent me the same crew on Saturday. They were professional, friendly and knew their stuff!!!! I was very pleased with the cost of the move as well. I expected to pay A LOT more money for the size and amount of moving that was required. I will FOR SURE use them again if ever needed!!!! Called a week or two in advance and booked an appointment (which required a $75 deposit online). Two movers showed up on time. They walked through the house initially to get an idea of the layout. I pointed out that I had brand new wood floors and painted walls that they'd need to be careful about. Despite narrow halls and small doorways, the movers got all of my furniture inside without any damage to the house! This included bringing a couch in the front door, realizing it wouldn't fit into the room I wanted, then turning around and taking it all the way around to the back of the house for storage in the basement. Movers were very courteous and easy to work with. Only negative I had with the movers was some minor disagreement about how long they were there. After each half hour they charge up to the next hour. I thought the movers had been there less than 2.5 hours, but they said they were there 2 hours and 35 minutes and therefore charged me for three hours. I double-checked the time they had arrived (I had been on my cell phone when they got there and knew exactly what time I ended the call) and it was actually 10 minutes after they said they arrived. I don't really care that I paid extra since they did such a great job with the moving, but just a heads up to make sure you agree on a start time at the beginning!

I had a couple of complaints but John addressed them and made it right. He is very interested in being customer service oriented.

Assembled a large piece of furniture. I contacted John when I had ordered a large cabinet that would need to be assembled. He stated that it wouldn't be a problem for him to assemble the cabinet , quoted a price, and when I received it, to call and he would put it on schedule. I called John when the cabinet parts were delivered and he scheduled the assembly for a few days later. John arrived right on time and was very nice about having to carry the heavy boxes into the house. There were ALOT of parts to this piece of furniture and 25 pages of instructions! He was undaunted by the numerous pieces (I wasn't !) and step by step assembled the cabinet. He did a great job! Not one scratch. He was very careful and neat. I will definitely call him again when I need help moving or assembling furniture! Thanks again, John

I contracted Big Guy for Hire to move my furniture to the garage before the re-finisher started and then move the furniture back into the house after the re-finishing was done. My exercise machine and studio piano would be moved into the kitchen instead of the garage. Derek and Robert called to say they were still working on the job before mine and they would be a little late. I was fine with that because it was raining at the time and I didn't want to start the move in the rain anyway. I was glad they called to let me know. They worked very hard and were very careful not to damage the furniture or the house. Derek said he had worked for Art Van for 10 years moving furniture so he knew how to do the job well. It took 2 hours to move the furniture out of the house. I asked them to move my bed into the basement instead of the garage so I could sleep there while the floors were being re-finished. They came back 1 week later to move the furniture back into the house. They came prepared with felt blanket to throw onto my new floors so they wouldn't damage them. This time it took 3 hours because I asked them to help me assemble some of the large wall unit pieces that I couldn't do by myself and I also asked them to bring many boxes and tubs up from the basement that they didn't have to deal with the first time. This was one of the best moving labor services I have ever worked with. They were diligent about unloading our moving truck quickly while still being careful not to damage our belongings. They were wonderful and I will be calling them for our next move.

First of all, I messaged about 20 movers from Angie's List and only two responded: one company that quoted $2200 for our situation (3 bedroom house, 2 occupants, no large furniture like pianos or sectional couches, etc) and Big Guy for Hire. Their website is awesome because they are completely transparent about services and rates. Big Guy For Hire sent 3 movers as requested: Ali, Derek and Frank. We requested 8 AM but they called to let us know where they were and what time they would be at the house. They were polite, friendly, and hard working. They loaded up our 3 bedroom house onto our 26' U-Haul and organized it perfectly to ride safely in about 2 hours and then followed us approximately 50 miles to our new home and proceeded to unload the truck AND organize items by room as requested which also took about 2 hours. Ali, Derek, and Frank were INCREDIBLY polite, especially to my mother-in-law and wife. I was actually at work during the loading process and came home just in time to drive the truck up to our new house. Although I hope to not move again anytime soon, I will use Big Guy for Hire again. We needed to move several large objects around our home. They were things we wanted to dispose of or give away. Some of them were extremely heavy and I wondered if two people could accomplish the task, not to worry, they were very capable. It went very well. This is the second time we have used big guy services and I would not hesitate to call on them again. They called us while they were on the way, showed up on time, and were very professional too. The gentlemen reviewed the things we wanted to have moved and where they were going, and quickly started to work. A treadmill and a curio cabinet were very unwieldy and heavy, but they made it look easy. They finished the task in short order and did it without any scrapes or scratches. These guys are pros they did the work quickly and at the price they quoted to me. They are outstanding.

I am not one to really give feedback, but I had to let the world know that there really are professional, courteous, knowledgeable, oh and did i say professional movers out there. I am sooooo pleased with their service. Derek and Ali were stellar. They worked their butts off and with a smile. Don't even call anyone else, If I were rich, I would have paid them their weight in gold. I also believe their expertise in packing made it so all of my items fit into a smaller truck than I originally had thought. I traveled several hundred miles with the load and nothing even shifted or cracked (even through the potholes we have suffered this winter). Very, very pleased !!!!!

I liked these guys. They were fast and funny, very pleasant, but better than either of these, they were pros. They loaded our U-Haul in the best tetris imaginable. Price was right, good experience, thanks!

We are so happy with your service and your excellent "Big Guys" :-). Derek and Ali (hope I spelled their names correctly)were so professional and just really good men. They had quite a difficult job moving heavy furniture up 3 twisting flights of stairs in the rain and they worked so hard and never complained.  Would call your company again in a heartbeat. 4 stars!!!

Packaged, moved, and delivered all my belongings from my home in Troy, MI to my new home in Chicago, IL. The owner John was very courteous and professional and provided me a thorough explanation of the services he would provide. He also provided me with a very agreeable estimate. I must add that I felt he provided a great bargain for the amount of work that was done. This was so particularly since I had many expensive and particular pieces of furniture. John and his staff were meticulous in their work and took their time to make sure everything was properly packaged and packed into the moving truck. My items were then promptly transported to my destination without issue or incident and I was moved into my new home in no time. Additionally, the estimated and quoted price was the same price I paid at the completion of the service. It was such a relief to not have to deal with a company that was into changing prices on you as so many moving companies are keen to do. John and his associates were timely, conscientious, and effective in providing a top notch service. In fact, in all my years of multiple moves due to the nature of my work with my company, I can easily say that the Big Guy for Hire service provided me the most seamless transition I have ever had. My daughter hired this company for her move. We were there the whole time as my husband drove the rental truck. We were all so impressed with Derek, Derek, and Ali! They were extremely pleasant, friendly, and efficient. They wrapped and taped and protected everything so that it all arrived at the other end in perfect condition. They asked where she wanted things and placed them for her. They dismantled and reassembled the large pieces. I can't imagine a better moving experience! Our whole family would recommend them highly.

Hired BigGuyForHire to move me from my 3 bedroom condo to a new condominium approximately 15 miles away. I chose this company based on their Yelp reviews and I couldn't have been more pleased with the service provided. Derek, Derek and Ali called to tell me when they would arrive, very carefully covered and packed my furniture and boxes in the truck I supplied. They were incredibly friendly, polite, conscientious and efficient. They didn't rush, so the whole process took close to 6 hours, but they were thorough and careful and did an amazing job!! It was well worth the money spent to have a seamless move and to not resort to recruiting reluctant friends to do a marginal job, threatening both themselves with injury and my possessions with damage. Will use Big Guy for any future moves and will happily recommend them to others!
