You may find a better price than Big Guy for Hire, but I can't imagine you'll find someone who can accommodate your specifications as well. And, for that reason, John Andrew's service is absolutely worth it. He was particularly good at adapting on a short notice, since I called just two weeks before the move and had to move quite a distance, even though my load was light. It worked better for me to manage the long drive over two days, and he was willing to do this. I was particularly relieved that his team was able to wear the "BIG GUY FOR HIRE" logo shirt in Detroit, a place with such crime problems that people routinely pose as movers and use the chance to plunder people's possessions while their apartment doors are hanging open. I was always able to keep track of my movers because of their branded shirts. That said, the two movers in Detroit (both part of John's team) were fine in terms of how they handled my stuff, but just a little disappointing in a few other minor considerations. For example, they didn't bring their own shipping tape to do extra spec work, so they just took and fully depleted me of my own shipping tape. (Fortunately, I had already taped up all my boxes.) In addition, these Detroit guys asked me for water bottles. Lucky for them, I had a jug of water that I just gave them (no cups), but really is it that hard to bring your own if you need it? After all, I'm moving everything I own, so tending to my movers' refreshment wasn't exactly the first thing on my mind.
